It's finally here! Saskatoon now has it's own snowshoeing club. If you like hiking but have the opinion that hiking season ends when the snow falls, you are wrong. Winter opens up a whole new world of opportunities for fun and exploration. All you need is your regular hiking gear with the addition of some warmer layers and a quality pair of snowshoes. Then head out on the trails and snow banks.
Back country and side country snowshoeing is offered for those who are looking for a bit more of an adventure. There is nothing like waking up to the rising sun on a cool crisp morning! That first sip of hot chocolate can't be beat. Snowshoes give you the freedom that a snowmobile or car can't; they can take you to some of the most beautiful places, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Weather you are making your way to Grey owl's cabin or to Nistowiak Falls, in northern Saskatchewan, you won't be able to get over the silence that only occurs in the dead of winter far back from any roads.
The Saskatoon Snowshoe Club has been created to serve as a meeting place for anyone that appreciates the great outdoors and is looking for a group of like-minded people to snowshoe with. Throughout the winter season there are a variety of member organized outings that everyone can take part in and enjoy. Be sure to have a look at the events page and plan your winter activities.
